Our rating on the level of risk this poses to people in NZ (out of 10)7

  • What can we do to protect ourselves?
    • Wash your hands before you eat, after you use the bathroom, if you have been in physical contact with others, been out in public, etc.
    • If you are caring for others who are sick wear gloves, change them regularly, washing your hands each time you remove them
    • Eat healthy, fruit and veges, and load up on vitamin C
    • If possible, avoid being inside with large crowds (OverĀ 10 people) in enclosed areas
    • If someone is coughing or sneezing near you, try and keep over two metres away from them if possible
    • Try not to touch your face, if you have to – wash your hands first!
    • Wash and dry your hands properly, or you are wasting your time! In fact, if you do not dry your hands thoroughly you are increasing the risk of picking up germs. Rub your hands together for at least twenty seconds with soap and water, rinsing them well. Then dry your hands for at least twenty seconds until all completely dry.
